A gemstone burial offers a compassionate alternative to a traditional funeral. A small amount of cremation ashes or hair from a loved one is used to create a personalized ruby or sapphire, preserving cherished memories in a unique and lasting form.
Because MEVISTO can create personalized gemstones from both cremation ashes and hair, this option is available regardless of whether the family chooses cremation or burial.
The process begins with the collection of either 50 grams of cremation ashes or 10 grams of hair. These biogenic materials are then carefully sent to our manufactory in Austria.
There, the unique elements contained within the ashes or hair are extracted using MEVISTO's proprietary process. These elements are permanently incorporated into the crystal structure of a growing sapphire or ruby at extremely high temperatures.
The result is a personalized ruby or sapphire whose color and characteristics are influenced by the unique elemental composition of the person it represents. Each gemstone is truly one of a kind and serves as a lasting symbol of an individual's life and legacy.
The finished gemstone can be set into a ring, pendant, or other piece of jewelry, or kept in an elegant presentation box as a treasured family heirloom for generations to come.
MEVISTO gemstones are set in 14-karat gold as standard, with 18-karat gold available upon request. Although sapphires and rubies are among the hardest gemstones in the world, second only to diamonds, they should still be protected from strong impacts, as even these durable gemstones can be damaged under extreme force. Your jewelry is designed for everyday wear and can be enjoyed on any occasion. However, because the chain naturally rubs against the pendant, we recommend inspecting it regularly for signs of wear. Over time, normal use may result in minor signs of wear, which is a natural characteristic of fine jewelry.

Yes. Sapphires and rubies are among the hardest gemstones in the world, making them exceptionally durable and well suited for everyday wear. However, even these gemstones should be protected from strong impacts, as hard blows may cause chipping or damage.
With proper care, your MEVISTO pendant will accompany you for a lifetime, preserving your memories and the story it carries for generations to come.
As a general rule, the chain should be made from the same gold alloy as the pendant. For example, if your pendant is crafted in 18-karat gold but worn on a 14-karat gold chain, the difference in hardness may cause uneven wear. Since 18-karat gold is softer, the harder 14-karat chain can gradually wear away the pendant's bail over time.
MEVISTO offers matching chains in a variety of lengths and gold colors, designed to complement your pendant perfectly. Additional chains are also available separately, allowing you to customize your keepsake to suit your personal style.

A sapphire or ruby does not lose its brilliance because of chemicals. Its only real enemies are strong impacts and dirt.
MEVISTO jewelry features an open-back setting, allowing the gemstone to be cleaned easily from both sides. The best way to restore its natural brilliance is with warm water, mild soap, and a soft toothbrush. Keeping the back of the gemstone clean allows light to pass freely through the facets, bringing out its full sparkle.
An ultrasonic cleaner is also suitable for cleaning. However, it is important that the jewelry is suspended in the cleaning basket and does not come into contact with the bottom of the ultrasonic tank, as this could damage the setting or the piece of jewelry during the cleaning process.
