Storage and Safekeeping
of Additional Elements

On request, additional elements can be removed and stored free of charge – this means that further gemstones can be produced at a later date. A minimum of 20 g of hair is required for storage, whilst 50 g of ashes is sufficient. The elements are stored under special conditions and can be preserved for up to five years. This means they can be used at any time to produce a new, personalised gemstone. We cannot guarantee that further gemstones will have the same colour shade.

What is the storage
intended for?

The fear of losing a precious memento is understandable. Nobody wants to have to lose someone a second time. To ease this fear, we store items free of charge on request. 

This service is often used when children are still too young to wear a precious gemstone, or when a matching second piece of jewellery is to be created at a later date.

Yes. If there is still hair or cremation ashes available, or if MEVISTO is still storing your extracted elements, an additional memorial gemstone can be created at any time.

To give our customers greater peace of mind, we currently offer complimentary storage of the extracted elements from 50 g of cremation ashes. We understand that no one wants to experience the feeling of losing a loved one a second time, which is why we provide this service free of charge.

From 50 g of ashes, we can create personalized gemstones with a combined weight of up to 12 carats. If the full 12 carats are not used, we can safely store the remaining extracted elements for up to five years. We continue to invest in research with the goal of extending this storage period in the future.

For hair or fur, we require 20 g in order to create a gemstone and preserve additional extracted elements for future use. This allows us to offer the same storage service for customers who choose to create their personalized gemstone from hair or fur.




If there are sufficient extracted elements remaining—meaning the full 12 carats of potential gemstones have not been used—we are pleased to store these elements free of charge as part of our service for gemstones created from cremation ashes.

We understand that no one wants to experience the feeling of losing a loved one—or a beloved pet—a second time. Knowing that the extracted elements are safely preserved can provide reassurance, as it allows us to create another personalized gemstone in the future should the original ever be lost or damaged.

Many families also choose this option when their children are still too young to receive such a precious keepsake, or when they plan to create additional pieces of jewelry at a later date.

At present, we can safely store the extracted elements for up to five years. We continue to invest in research with the goal of extending this storage period even further.

From 50 g of cremation ashes or 10 g of hair, we can create personalized sapphires or rubies with a combined total weight of up to 12 carats. This could, for example, be six gemstones of 2 carats each.

Many families choose to create several gemstones so that multiple family members can each have their own meaningful keepsake. In this way, everyone can carry a unique and lasting symbol of their shared memories and connection.

Because each gemstone is created through a unique crystal-growing process, and the color-producing elements are incorporated naturally during its formation, we cannot guarantee that additional gemstones created from stored elements will have exactly the same color.

Even when the same extracted elements are used, slight variations in hue and color intensity may occur. This natural uniqueness is part of what makes every MEVISTO sapphire or ruby a truly one-of-a-kind keepsake.

Yes. If MEVISTO is already storing extracted elements, or if additional hair or cremation ashes are still available, we can create additional personalized gemstones for children, siblings, or other family members.

While these gemstones are created from the same unique elements, we cannot guarantee that they will have exactly the same color. Because each gemstone grows individually, slight variations in hue and color intensity are a natural part of the process, making every sapphire or ruby truly one of a kind.
