Crossing the rainbow bridge to become a gemstone

A eulogy for our Einstein

Although Einstein, our royal poodle, moved in with us when he was just a puppy, we knew there and then that he would turn out to be more than just a pet.
It was a cinch for him to wrap us around his finger with his charm and character and to become a firm part of our family.

Sadly, we recently had to bid farewell to his unique and beloved character.
Daniela tells us the story of the time she shared with her poodle Einstein and how he came to be a part of Mevisto:

An exceptional piece of jewelry: my soul dog with me forever.

Work at Mevisto makes you aware that living and dying are inexorably interlinked. One day the time, that unavoidable moment, will come when life comes to a close. An illness forced Einstein, much too soon, to walk across the rainbow bridge. We thus, with a heavy heart, had to say good-bye to our dog and give him a final resting place. When we brought him over to us from Switzerland, we joked that we named him Einstein “because one day he will turn into ‘a stone’”.

His arrival also marked the beginning of Mevisto. They are both shape shifters - Mevisto and the poodle. This is also the reason why we picked our new family member to serve as our logo. By making multiple donations of his fluffy hair, he played an integral part in fostering Mevisto’s development and became crucial to the genesis of our gemstones crafted from hairs. He helped us realize our vision of creating lasting memories with jewelry and gemstones made from hair and ashes.

Our dog was more than a pet, he was part of our family

Einstein was a dog like no other. He was by my side - even before I met my husband. Our children grew up with Einstein as their “brother” and protector. Einstein was always full of energy and became fascinated and fell in love with our children as soon as they entered this world. He always kept them safe and played with them constantly.

Our employees mourn Einstein’s passing as much as we do. Everyone had become fully accustomed to sit next to him at the conference table. Whether he made himself comfortable on an elegant office chair or planted himself on a plain barstool - Einstein always was a part of our family and of Mevisto.

His innate vanity as a poodle made us laugh more times than we can count. One particularly fond memory is the endearing self-absorption with which he used to flaunt his latest haircut. He always attached great importance to his looks. The mirror was his friend, as he needed to make sure the new coiffure we chose was to his liking, too. This might be an opportune moment to thank our master hairdresser who always made him look his best.

Poodles are held to be among the smartest canine races. Utilizing his “sixth sense”, Einstein often managed to give solace to mourners and the bereaved during their visit to our company. He always brought peace and quiet to those who were in the throes of their grief. He brought comfort to the bereaved, and now we mourn his departure.

A gemstone made from ashes for all eternity

When we suffer a loss, we are reminded of how much support we can find in a memento.
Einstein is now transfigured into a gemstone. It will be given its final polish soon.
